Dear All,

I am NOT a seasoned boatie but was fortunate on retirement, from 40 years in an office, to be able to fulfil my dreams and acquire a brand spanking new Fleming 55. As this is what I ‘now do’, we decided to name our 55’ ‘post office’.

Purchasing such a luxury was no easy feat. Firstly I had to convince my darling wife who, like me, was born a land lubber & would have much preferred spend our hard earned on an acreage somewhere, but that sounded like hard work to me, however having a boat on Sydney harbour was a dream that I couldn’t resist. We had had a ‘river boat’ on The Hawkesbury river for 10 years whilst our children were growing up, but it was now time to get out of the river & go further afield.

After finally getting the green life from my wife, we placed the order & had the first ‘fun experience’ of going through the exhaustive list of options. Once that was done & the process was under way, we were invited to ‘inspect the build’ in the Tung Hwa yard in Taiwan. If our initial investigations had not been enough, this visit certainly assured us that we had purchased the right boat. The quality & workmanship of all products was extraordinary & we left that yard very comfortable on the choice we had made. We took delivery in Sydney harbour in August 2014. In May 2015 we exhibited ‘post office’ to the Sanctuary Cove Boat Show & then went on to The Whitsunday Islands in mid north Queensland for the winter (a journey of 120 hours under way). An unbelievably good passage & a great experience. We returned to Sydney harbour in October 2015 & continue to enjoy exploring the harbour & the opportunity to show friends the iconic Sydney harbour.

We chose the 55’ as we believe it is about as big a boat as my wife & I are comfortable to handle & time over again, we would not change a thing.

Not only does ‘post office’ handle superbly but the after sales service has been something that we understand is not provided by other manufacturers. From the Mng Dir Duncan Cowie & his team in Taiwan, to the people on the ground here in Sydney, Egil Paulsen & Sam Nicholas, nothing is too much trouble & any issues are fixed in the shortest possible time with the least amount of fuss. They have made boating for us an absolute pleasure.

I have no hesitation in recommending a Fleming to anyone who feels so inclined.
